Hi All

I'm looking for a stock for my Savage 11 short action. As this is a budget rifle for a budget person (polite way of saying I'm cheap???), I noticed that Boyd's makes really inexpensive and nice looking laminate stocks.

The only one I can see on the website is the straight replacement, or the Featherweight Thumbhole stock. I don't really like the look of TH stocks but they feel great, so it's what I'm leaning towards.

Has anyone tried one?
Do they work well? I would be bedding it to my rifle of course.
Would you recommend them?
Any issues shipping them to Canada?

Do they have any other decent models besides the Featherweight Thumbhole?

Thanks for your comments,
Barry

They used to have a bunch of model but they seem to have watered down there selection. There is no problem shipping them as long as it is under $100 before shipping.
Boyds quality is ok. The in-letting is not 100% and you may need to remove some wood to get 100% fit. A dremil tool and a steady hand is necessary.
If you have a ceneterfeed model you can only get the proper one from Stockys and then you have to get an import license for it as stockys charges more.

All that said, there quality is good for what you pay for. Not many options for Savage stocks, especially if it is centerfeed.

Yes, unfortunately it is a center feed. Stocky's looks like they have some nice gear. Import license? I may look for something in-country.

I'm surprised there are not more options for stocks for the Savages.

Our options just got cut in 1/2 recently thanks to US export laws. I squeaked a Sharp Shooters Supply stock across just before they started getting seized.

Not many options locally unless you want to get a Robertsons. They are great stocks but not cheap at all. I don't think they inlet for Savage either. At least they didn't last time I asked about a year ago anyways.
Keep your eyes open on the EE, something may come up.

I'm also currently suffering from the complete lack of stocks for the center-feed (3rd Gen) rifles. Are there any other options right now?

Call them they may have something for the centerfeed savage. I bought a target thumbhole for my savage 12fvss. The front action screw hole was not quite in the right place. I filled the hole with acraglass and drilled a new one. The stock was 75$ dollars + shipping came to about a 100.

At that price point I would recommend a boyds.

"Them" being Boyds, Stocky's or Robertson?
Thanks!

You can make the 2nd gen savage stock fit the 3rd gen guns..

They are making me a heavy barreled stock for the 10FP.. Special run I got on the waiting list... Was told it was a run of about 60 and they had 50 people on the wait list... I called the day after they put out the notice and was told one color was already spoken for.. But they would probably extend it if there was enough interest.. Didn't matter to me as I was looking at a different color..

If you want a better stock phone savage and order an accustock. They will fit with very minor to no modification. The new bottom bolt release is irrelevant to the fit.
