Has anybody put a Boyd's stock, specifically the SS Evolution, on a Savage 93R17 rifle? I've looking to get one with a bull barrel like the 93R17 FV and, from what I understand from their website, you may need to buy extra parts to make it work? (trigger guard, floor plate) Any help on this?

You will need a trigger guard and mag plate and associated screws for the stock ... Hoyt has a couple of these stocks mounted with S93's ... very nice.

I have the same stock shown above on mine but in Pepper

If you call up Savage, they can get you what you want just by you telling them what you are going to be doing ... worked for me ;)

Let them know you are mounting said rifle into a boyds stock and you need inletted TG & MP

Are there any versions of the 93R17 that will already come with everything I need? The wood stock model perhaps (93R17-GV)?

Haha definitely saw that one, not into the color or fluted barrel though, thanks anyways, this is what i'd ideally like, sans the hover scope though, prefer permanently attached and must have bull barrel...

If it has a wood stock from the factory it has what you need already.
Much appreciated. The wood stock model is only $20 more than the synthetic stock so makes sense to just buy that one and save the hassle of ordering extra parts from Savage, thanks! Will post pics once it's complete.

This is not correct. The newer laminated ("B" for Boyd's) stocks will have everything that you need (TG, Mag plate, Longer action scews), but they factory pallet wood "G" version stocks do not.

Three problems;

1. The stock that you say is $20 more is a "G" version stock and does not have the parts that you need.

2. The Savage factory parts are really crappy... the TG is useable, but the mag plate is a flimsy joke... better off to pick up the DIP package for those parts. The parts that Boyd's sells are sourced from Savage, so they are the same cheap parts that would come on a "B" version gun...

3. To make matters more complicated there are some "B" version guns (mostly package guns) that have surface mounted TG's and Mag Plates, and these will not fit the Boyd's stocks, which require the "inletted" components... Savage does have the correct parts, but again they are not of good quality (don't ask me why they don't fix this problem?).

DIP parts that you need are here;

I stand corrected. Thanks for learning me something new today lol

Where are you getting that nice bolt for the 93r17 i would luv to have that on mine!!

Where do you get those bolt handles? Will all these things work on my Lakefield MKII?

I have the Liberty Tactical Bolt knob on three of my Savage 93's... my two MKII HM2's have the tactical (silver vein) knob from Bill's Bolt Knobs...

Both of these require grinding/cuttin/threading the bolt handle to 5/16X24 TPI and installing with red Loc-Tite.
