Boyds had a sale on their M1A stocks, under the $100.00 limit so I finally ordered one.The question I have for those of you that have ordered this type of item. How long are they usually held up in customs.Mine arrived in customs on the 10th,what seems to be the time frame they are held, and do they contact you for duty or what.It was shipped usps.so does it arrive with duty owing at the post office or what,I have read on some of the forums that some go through no problem and others have a lot of problems or get shipped back.any info?

Seeing as you are in AB, it will arrive with 5% GST and $5 processing fee owning. You will no doubt get a parcel card.

$86 for a walnut M1A stock from Boyds + $28.65 USPS shipping to Kanuckistan? I've never seen a deal like that. What kind of camo paint would be best over walnut?

Does Boyds have a pistol grip stocks? Ther is a place in the states that has pistol grip stocks for around $375 was the quote I got. Just hoping to see if Canada has some for less.

I am currently the only composite pistol grip m14 stock maker in Canada, that I am aware of.
And no, we can not produce at stock like ours for 375.00 or less. Could do it if I caved in and manufactured in China or India, but not here, with the materials I use.
That 375.00 stock in the states would probably actually closer to 500.00 legally imported

Do they look like this ?

I love that pic :) I get warm and fuzzy M14 luvvin feelins every time you post that pic hehehehe
That stock inspired me to make the M14SE2 shown below. Also due to be availlable in canada as new manufacture,

But I do really like the boyd's stocks. I've NM bedded. 5 or 6 type 2 laminates and over a dozen of the standard walnuts for recent clients. A very nice stock to work with as a base for a nice custom rifle.

Noooo, walnut deserves to be rubbed down carefully with fine grit sandpaper, have the grain raised, rubbed again and again with fine steel wool and and thinned linseed oil. Painting a walnut stock would be like tagging the mona lisa. Paint a chu wood one if you have to.

I'm looking for more info on your stocks. Should I look somewhere else?

I have an add in the general dealers news and updates forum
Over the past 5 years I've been designing stocks for the m14. These have been made from usgi fiberglass.
I am now selling off the last of these custom stocks and am as we speak, starting production of 3 NEW Manufacture M14 stocks from modern composite materials. No plastic, no resin filled nylon, no zytel
Carbon fiber, kevlar and fiberglass and modern resins.
I have taken down much of my stock adds in dealer add due to the fact that the usgi stock mod versions are no longer availlable.
New manufacture stocks will be ready to order in May 2010 starting with the CQBR-14, the M14SA2 and the M14SE2 all shown below in order. Pics in a minute

And with that, sorry for being a post whore and a boyd's stock thread hijacker :D :D
Hard to beat a boyd's, quality at a bargain
