Anyone ever replace your 99's furniture with a Boyd's set?i have a Boyd's on a bolt action but I know the 99 factory butt stocks were hand fitted. Is there much fitting? Are the laminate sets much heavier than the walnut? Relax btw, not defacing a classic. It's a 99E lightweight carbine with factory birch wood and the buttstock is too damn short lol. I put a grind to fit limbsaver on to increase lop but it is still only 12" lop.Always wanted to put nicer wood on it anyway. Thanks

What vintage is your 99? I have one from 1914 that needs new wood.

I have many.
The one I bought the wood for is a 99C in .308 that is destined to be either a 7-08 or .338 Fed... once I make up my mind.
The fore stock needs to be relieved a bit where the barrel and receiver meet.
Boyds has a couple of different styles of 99 wood for different barrel escutcheon placing.
Details are available on their sight.

***NO I don't want to sell this stock set so no more PM's please. Go to Boyds sight and buy yer own.

I have a forest camo laminate on a 99C that went from .308 to .358W, but the unfinished stock came from gunstocksinc, not from Boyds. Took a bit of dickin' around for sure, but it looks good (except to 99 purists of course!), and shoots very well. Also took some messing around to sort out a bit of a feeding issue with the increased projectile/neck size.
