Boyd's stocks~how long did it take you to get yours?

I got mine with no waiting at all. A few years ago I bought a .22 BTVSS (that's the SS thumbhole model) from Wholesale Sports. It had a really good looking stock, very glossy and lighter in colour than usual for this model. When I removed the action to set the trigger weight I was surprised to discover "BOYDS" inscribed on the inside of the stock. I don't know how common this is, but Savage must have subcontracted Boyds' to produce at least some of their stocks.

For those that are unsure of the the origin of the laminate stock on their Savage rimfire:

Boyds makes nearly all of the laminate stocks for Savage rimfires. At least the newer ones. There is a reason that the BSEV has an exact "copy" of the Evolution stock, the TR models have a "copy" of the Tacticool, the BTV/SS have a "copy" of the rimfire target thumbhole, and the BV has a "copy" of the rimfire target. Not to mention, the colours are even named the same.

I have seen some arguments on several forums about the origin of these stocks. They are BOYDS. Call Savage, they'll confirm it.

This is also something to keep in mind when you're waiting for a stock on a direct factory order, you may be waiting longer because they are servicing a much larger client (i.e Savage Arms) before they are servicing you. That being said I have no complaints, as my turn around time was very quick, most of which was due to customs.

Yeah, I know.. I've also read that the "B" in any of the model codes MEANS Boyd's, not sure whether or not that's true.

In fact, having seen the same stock I ordered on that link for the $299 Savage HMR around Christmas time, I was wondering if Savage had gobbled-up every one of them! :)

Anyhow, I'm in business myself...and it's BAD business to give a (new) customer a long lead time and STILL not honor it, regardless of their reputation you have, or the reasons for it. One-off sales to individuals are more than just a side business for Boyd's, I get the impression they sell a pile of them this way. Anyhow, we'll see how long it ends-up taking, and I'll decide whether or not to order from them again once the dust settles on the matter.

Update~just got notification that the stock will ship today~38 days after ordering. Will b**ch and complain a little more once it shows-up. :)

Second last update~stock is here! Ordered Feb.10, arrive March.26 On a positive note, it's a really nice stock...and it appears as though it might have been worth the wait.

Hope to make the swap tonight, I'll post some pics when I get it done.

Hey guys, finally got the rifle together with a new EGW rail too, I think it looks great! Pictures aren't that great, but I had 2 groundhogs watching me that needed attention. :) Truth be told, I took these before sighting-in the rifle (which was my priority) and the hay pigs were long gone once the rifle went off a few times.

Let me know what you think!

Very nice!

I wish they had that color in stock when I ordered mine, but I choose not to wait and got mine in Pepper with vent holes in the channel. Haven't had a chance to shoot mine yet, it's on the agenda for today :D
