My experience getting this stock to Canada hasn't been the most enjoyable. First problem started when I forgot to order the bottom metal for it. Couldn't add it to my order online so had to call. Unfortunately I ordered on the Wednesday before American Thanksgiving and they weren't open till the following Monday. Called first thing Monday, no answer. Called back a bit later, couldn't get through to anybody so left a message. No one ever called back. Tried again the following day and finally spoke to someone. They said it was too late and they couldn't add it as the stock had just shipped that morning. Gun didn't actually ship for another 36 hrs. Shipping the metal parts alone was going to cost $50 dollars and the part was only $20. Not happy. Stock finally gets here this morning and customs kindly slapped another $20 charge on it ($10 for tax, $10 for processing). Check the shipping label when I got home, it only cost them $30, not the $50 I paid. So, for a $100 dollar replacement stock this has turned into about a $250 endeavour. On a positive note, the product looks great.

I just order a stock and trigger for a 1916 Mauser. I'll see what they ding me at customs when I get it. Was also charged $50 for shipping from Boyds.

I ordered a Predator call from Cabela's USA because in Canada they couldn't match the price. They charged me shipping from the US and when I got the package it was shipped from Manitoba. Some of these companies are unbelievable. I called them about refunding me the difference in shipping charges and after a heated argument with the manager they coughed it up. It was more the principal of the whole thing than the money. Canada store said they couldn't match the price then ship from their store.

Boyds shipping is on the high side but not unreasonable... Buyers have to know their stuff because Boyd's has thousands of stock versions and some require additional parts... No offense OP, but you screwed up, not Boyd's... About 2/3's of my packages from Boyd's come through with NO customs fees... The other 1/3 get dinged for tax and processing... Boyd's has no control over that... The average $100 stock ends up costing between $150 and $180, depending on customs... You can't count bottom metal as a "Boyd's issue." Boyd's is a great product company, but the are weak in customer service... I have dozens of Boyd's stocks and I have been happy with all of them.

I fully admit it was my fault for not originally including the bottom metal but A) if they would have called me back or answered their phone the first time it wouldn't have been an issue and B) when they finally do answer their phone theres no reason to lie and say it's shipped already when it wasn't. While I agree the $30 it ACTUALLY cost to ship isn't totally unreasonable, the mystery extra $20 they charged for shipping is. Like I said though, the stock looks great and love the feel of the thumbhole.

Boxes aren't free and workers don't work for free. The shipping rate was $30 and the other $20 went into the box and the rest went to the person who boxed it up for you.

Typically costs of operating a business (closing a box and putting a sticker on it), especially one that deals exclusively in mail-order products, are built into the price of that product. I highly suspect the $100 I paid for the stock more than covered it's cost of production, including all aspects of labour. You don't pay an extra fee at Cabelas for the guy that runs you through the till and walks you to your car when you buy a new gun. I had however considered that until I was talking to them on the phone and was quoted $30 for shipping when she looked it up in their system, but when I went back to purchase the part online it was the generic $50 dollar charge.

Like has been said, the cost of shipping from the States has gone up a lot.The last two orders i got from Brownell's were ridiculous. Most recently it was a remington 597 scope rail valued at $13.49 and the shipping ended up being over $28, Invoice was just shy of $42.

Ya I understand that shipping costs aren't cheap from the US and have gone up recently, but my point is simply that I paid $20 more in shipping than it actually cost to ship it.

They could have put my scope rail in an envelope but instead, they used a big cardboard box stuffed with plastic air filled bags.I wasn't impressed to say the least. lol.

i just received mine for my m14 after work today! I finished installing it on my rifle a few hours ago! It's just awesome! Very happy! Just had to pay 45$ extra at the post office for border tax and other taxes...but it's a good product that's for sure!

Boyds stock that I received last week (Tikka T-3) was $152.00 to my door.
Absolutely no problems with the 6 or 7 Boyds stocks that I have purchased over the years.

I ordered a stock and forend from Boyds for my remington 7400 back in the spring. I didn't get a chance to shoot it until the fall and after 8 shots the forend split in half. I had a really hard time getting a hold of them as well and in the end had to use the wife's Facebook to message them and that was the only way they responded. It ended up there was a recall on those forends and they wanted me to send back the forend for full refund but would not take back the butstock. I explained to them even returning the forend I would still be out $140 for the butstock plus the money for the butstock spacer and shorter bolt which came to almost $200 in total and the butstock is useless to me without the forend. They still said "they would like to offer to let me keep the butstock". I ended up spending another $50 in fiberglass and sandpaper and about 7-8 hours to get it to work. I do like their products and understand every company makes mistakes but I thought they could of at least taken back the butstock knowing that it was no good to me by itself.

Why didn't you just get them to ship a new forearm? Spitting a laminate forearm is a rarity, and is usually an installation issue or and inletting issue.

They had stopped making them after the recall and the woman I was messaging back and forth couldn't even give me any tips on how to fix the problem as they didn't know themselves to fix them to make them work. I asked her if she had any idea when they would start producing them again and I would wait till then, and she wasn't sure if they would be even be bringing them back out. The problems were- the bolt hole was too big and I had to put in a spacer, there was a 1/4" gap between the wood and block where the stock bolts on and I had to epoxy in another spacer, they needed to cut out the back out the stock so it fit over the receiver and they left it flat so it just butted up against so I had to use the dremmel to cut it out so it fit and then later fiberglass in there to strengthen it all.

Sorry to hear it worked out that way for you.
I just ordered a stock from them for my Savage 93 .22 WMR and noticed that shipping was quite a bit more than the last time I ordered.
A bit of a bummer but still worth it to me.

Yep, shipping was $55 on my last two orders, up from the $45 I paid for my orders last year... on the upside, Boyd's has kept the price of their stocks down... and it is still a very good deal.

Wow, that sucks.... I live RIGHT on the border and use a parcel service in the neighboring US town. They charge me 2.00 to order parcels to them. I then pick it up in person, declare it at customs, and i'm golden. Customs has never even charged me tax on the couple stock's i've ordered in the past! Im just about to order another one for my Savage Axsis 22-250 in forest camo (lightweight thumbhole). I really like that parcel service!

ginnz.

I bet you could start a little side business ordering parts for all us complainers. charge a little for your pocket and I'm sure we would still be saving money.
