Well guys, I finally got a Boyd's thumbhole stock for my stainless heavy barreled BMAG today. Ive been running the plastic POS stock since December and just couldn't take it anymore! You know, I thought the AXIS stock was junk (I also got a Boyd's for my Axis) , but they outdid themselves with the BMAG stock! Yikes, what's next!? It couldnt get worse, could it?

Anyways, I got a stock in pepper laminate, as I thought the grey would go good with the stainless. It seems its the combination most guys are going with. And wow, just like the Axis, the Bmag feels like a whole different gun. A real step up.

here are a couple ugly cell phone pics, ill post some better ones when my wife gets home, (she's the photographer!)

well, it was basically drop in, I had to do a little trimming to get the rifle to lay in the stock a little deeper, as the magazine wouldn't click in, but it was very minor. you use the factory bolt "studs" from the plastic stock, and the trigger guard is included, so nothing else is needed. A common issue that everyone seems to be having is actuating the safety in the new stock. Its almost impossible to slide the safety to the rear to engage it in the new stock. Its just the way its inletted that makes it tough. I plan on testing it later on today to see how it shoots. Im anticipating having to bed the rifle, but that remains to be seen. Ill update this thread with bedding if need be. All in all the stock is an awesome change. It finishes off the BMAG to what it should have been in the first place, It feels great, as all Boyds stocks do, IMO.

I plan on getting a one piece scope rail, and a new, longer tactical type bolt knob, as they make cocking the rifle easier, and look alot better ;-) Oh, another thing, If your able to go across the border to get packages (through a parcel service), it makes buying these stocks much more affordable. I get all my boyds stocks for about 116.00 US, verses the 200.00+ it costs to have them shipped to Canada.... ;-) An awesome deal.

Wow. just got back from "range test". Honestly I didnt have high hopes for the first time out, as i figured it would need a bedding job, but it shot surprisingly well! I managed to put all 8 shots in a 1" circle at 75 yards. It was shooting 2" low and 1" to the left, after a little clicking on the scope it's dead nutz. I could just leave it well enough alone, but I know thats not gonna happen. Now its on to the bedding job. ;-)

WOW. Did the bedding job. I bedded the "pillars" into the stock, and about 2" just after the front stock bolt, where the ribs are cut into the barrel. So about 3/4" of the receiver is supported and 1.25" of the barrel. I also got the safety to function perfectly smooth. I took it out today in no wind and found it to be a 100% improvement in accuracy! I shot 7 shots at 100 yards into .786" and four of them were .389". There was one flyer that blew the group. Im blaming it on ammo, thats for sure. It shoots the 20 gn stuff just awesomely, but spits the 25 gn stuff out rather poorly. That's just fine by me, as I plan to use it for gopher slaying and don't need the extra 5 gn for anything... ;-) I plan on weighing up a bunch of the 20 gn stuff and testing it with matched ammo next time! I recommend the Boyd's upgrade and a bedding job, it made all the difference. Ive seen some guys that have had to put some rubber under the front of the barrel to get them to shoot, but mine shoots perfect totally floating. Next is a one piece scope rail, and glades bolt handle. Ill post some pics of the bedding job later....

Cool, that's accurate enough I'd say, though I suspect were still gonna hear how otherwise from the savage haters out there, post up where you get the bolt handle from if you don't mind, I'm debating moddifying mine or ordering one from somewhere, though i need to get it bedded and a magazine to feed it in the AICS airsoft first.
