Nice collection. I have the Stevens ' Little Scout 14 1/2' myself. I think it is the prettiest one of the group. Mine belonged to my dad when he was just a boy on the family farm
down in the 'county' (Prince Edward). I have never fired it because I can't find a firing pin for it.

There's no such thing as 'too much fun'

I was beginning to think the TOBIN "$5 BOY SCOUT RIFLE" I own was the only one on the planet. I've had one for a few years and could learn NOTHING about its origin.

Since finding the above ad I now have an historical article on the little rifle in the 2012 Edition Gun Digest including copies of every advertisement which Tobin ran about it in the Rod And Gun In Canada magazine, which was published in Woodstock, Ont. where the Tobin factory had become the first shotgun factory in Canada.

Have since found 2 guys in Ontario who own - or have owned - 5 of these little rifles, plus one other Canadian who owns one. You and I make a grand total of 8 of them that I now know exist. Here's mine below:

Mine has a FLAT firing pin rather than a ROUND one. Which type of pin does your Tobin have? Also, does your rifle's takedown bolt have a slot in the head?

Thanks for any info.

Yes I know these little Tobin guns are pretty rare and have read a few things about them that I have found on the internet. This is only one that I have seen or owned and I have been attending the Woodstock Gun show for number of years. The one that I have does not have a slot in the TD screw.

Road King you mentioned no slot in your takedown bolt head. My Tobin is identical, with NO slot. Can't speak for any of the others I ran across.

However, I believe mine is totally unique because it uses a slab type of firing pin which works on a cam. ALL of the others had a normal ROUND firing pin.

Which type of firing pin does your rifle use? Below is close-up of mine's oddball firing pin arrangement.
