Just wondering if anyone in long range or benchrest competition is using anything other than BR-2's ? so far I've stuck to them as they're so popular/proven but I've been thinking of trying some cci-200's, 250's, and federal gold match.
So is anyone having as good a luck with other primers or ever found that something other than BR-2 yielded better accuracy/consistency?

thanks

Doing another rifle in a few months and got a load in mind that could possibly use something more powerful than a BR-2.
I think I'll get a few more types and just do a bit of chrono tests and so on next year and see where they all land.
Did some testing this year to make up my mind on hbn coating, so next year I guess its primers :)

I've read that CCI200s and BR2's are the same. The only difference is the BR2 production line is run slower and by more experienced staff to ensure better quality.

I read years ago that the BR2's are from the same production lines as 200's. When they do their testing, the production lots producing the tightest most uniform results, become BR2's.

A friend of mine toured Federal once and spoke to the 210M guy. He had the most experience making primers, that was the only difference. I see now however that Federals are now a pellet that is assembled into the cup, not a slurry that is squeegeed in. I would imagine that all their match and regular primers are now the same. This may well apply to other makers as well.
