The Alberta Provincials will be run at Rosebud over this long weekend. This will be a 3-day group shoot at 100 and 200 yds using LV and HV rifles along with the Unlimited rifles. Matches run from about 9am to 4pm with a break for lunch. We are expecting a good turnout and strong competition.
Directions to the club can be found here: http://www.benchrest.ca/Clubs.html

In addition we will also have a precision marketplace (flea market) for BR and related items. There will be some rifles, rests, scopes, bags, etc on display and available for purchase.

Bring suncreen and a lunch. If you have a spotting scope bring it along to watch the groups form, or use one of the others that will be available to look through. Hope to see you there! - Rick

Would like to drop out and have a look. Is there a particular day that might be better for the "tourists" to come have a peak at the sport.

Hard to pick any one day. Saturday will likely have the most guns on the line. I would pick the nicest day according to weathernetwork.ca if you have the luxury of choosing a day.

Hearing protection, bug spray, suncsreen, spotting scope, lunch, drinks. Depending of course on how long you want to stay.

Thanks for the info. I have been thinking of trying this out so it would be a good opportunity to see what its all about.

Reminder this is the last event in the Calgary area this season. See the latest in BR rifles, aka "how to shoot bigger groups faster". Just kidding.

Hope to see you out there Fergus, and anyone else who is wondering about BR.

Do you guys do any comps in the Edmonton area?

Unfortunately no matches in the Edmonton area. We do have 4-5 shooters in the Edmonton area who travel down here for matches.

We may be close to the critical mass and interest to getting them going. Do you have any ideas for matches in and around Edmonton? Any thoughts as to what club might be interested in holding them?

Rick

Your asking the wrong guy haha, I just moved here about 2 weeks ago but would love to get involved and help when I can. I am nowhere near setup to be competitive in BR, but would love to try it.

PM me an e-mail address and I can add you to our mailing list to keep up to speed on BR related activities. I will also put you in touch with the Edmonton BR crowd. You can also check out my webpage www.benchrest.ca which will also keep you informed of the activities across Canada.

Spruce Grove, Drayton Valley and Genesee are all potential candidates for holding comps.. But I don't know if they would...

I don't know either. The trick will be to find someone to grab the reins and get something going up there. I will talk to the Edmonton guys and see if we can "volunteer" someone. I know the people in Calgary would be quite happy to travel to Edmonton to shoot and are willing to help with initial setup if a range wants to hold BR shoots.

This match is now in the bag. The full results and match report can be found at:

It was a very challenging weekend at Rosebud (again!), but a few managed to get a handle on it and shoot some small groups.

I had a great time at Rosebud this past weekend . Lots of challenging conditions , good competition and a well run shoot. We had a BBQ on Saturday night and also prize draw. Thanks to Tony , Paul and Rick for putting this match on.

I will second

what Joe had to say on the shoot.

It was a very well run shoot that went flawless.

For myself it is a long drive from Brandon but it was worth every minute I spent out there. I could not understand for the life of me why I see aggs on the larger side at the Rosebud matches but now I KNOW WHY. She is one challenging range that is NOT forgiving to a missed condition. It kept you on your toes. It even had myself and Doug Sieb (Pop's I like to call him) chuckling like a buch of school girls when we missed a condition.

It is even nicer when you come away with over 500.00 dollars in prizes....:D

The good Lord willing, I look forward to the Nationals for sure and possiblyu the provincials again.

Thanks guys.

Calvin- Shouldn't it read the Lord willing and NO more wasp attacks.
The only benchrest shooter in Canada who can take a sip of beverage from a can and get a wasp bite on the lip. I hear the nurses were all gathered around him admiring that movie star lip!!!! That makes two matches Calvin 0 wasps 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope even with the vicious attack you had fun, which seemed to be the case.
