@DWDMOWAT - on Canadian Gun Nutz, we try to keep the conversation relevant to Canadian gun issues. A full-auto AK-47 is a Prohibited Weapon in Canada. Only a small number of ordinary collectors have these guns, and their papers do not allow them to be taken to the range to shoot. A very smaller number of companies in the film and police supply business are allowed to own full-auto guns and magazines. They don't buy retail. For the rest of the population, any rifle magazine over 5-rounds capacity is as prohibited device, and as illegal as a brick of heroin.

What is an AK-47 magazine worth? Nothing to almost every Canadian gun owner.

Mapleleafeh, you forget the numerous owners of SKS-D rifles and AIA rifles that use the AK mags... Vote Conservative and maybe we will get to shoot those AK's again someday!

I bought my last few steel 5/30 mags for 30$ each. Most sellers are asking around 50$ per mag. Surplus european steel mags are 20$ brand new in the USA and as low as 10$ for used ones.... Of course, there are more expensives ones depending of manufacturer...

Of course, the mags must be pinned to the legal five rounds limits in Canada.

With all due respect, I think maple_leaf_eh is right on topic

And he was even nice enough to provide an explanation.

Most of these rifles are now 12(3) or 12(5), and since you can't really take them to the range anymore... very few people are interested in spare AK47 magazines.

If your method of restricting the mags to 5 doesn't pass the 'keepers of the border' scrutiny (and I hate to say it, likely won't if a rivet is involved) they won't make it.

....WOW......I happen to own a 12(5) AKM and an SKS-D.......

this IS the place where we can talk about red rifles and guess what:mad: the AK is THE red rifle......these kind of comments add NOTHING to gunnutz....

....these kind of comments add NOTHING to gunnutz....

Wannabe, please step back from the keyboard... and take a minute to re-read the tread.

His comments are in response to the OP wanting to know the price of an AK47 magazine... If you disagree with the statement made, please enlighten us...

If you want to discuss the AK47, please do so to your hearth's content.

You ranting doesn't add any nothing to CanadianGunNutz V:I:

Now, to get a little off-subject...

~

How about writing to the minister to ask him to release the information used to prohibited the firing of 12(3) and 12(5) firearms at approved ranges?

If remember correctly, this change came about in 2005 and was part of bill C-10A...

~

I am sure if we'd be allowed to take this firearm back to the range, there would be a bigger demand for spare magazine ;)
