About to give Marlin a call about this, but maybe someone else has had a similar issue with this make/model or lever actions in general.

Have a brand new Marlin 336 in 30-30 Win. Sometimes, when cycling through the action, the bolt carrier doesn't depress the hammer to its lowest position, so when trying to bring the lever back home, the bolt carrier meets the hammer and can't clear it, stopping the action dead. This is easily fixed by pushing the hammer down to that final click, but what pain in the ass. Surprised this is happening to a new gun.

Have had this firearm to the range 3 times. First time, went through 60 rounds, happened twice. Second time, 20 rounds and happened about 10 times in a row. Last time out, it did is consistently for about the first 12 shots, but then shot another 50 without it snagging once.

Ammo choice, cycling fast vs. slow, nothing (so far) seems to influence when the issue occurs. I've taken it down and cleaned thoroughly, and visually everything looks good. Really bizarre issue, not sure what to do except call Marlin. Which is too bad as the gun shoots straight and is super fun. Any insight would be appreciated.

Gravel Agency handles Marlin warranty work. Call them first. If you contact Marlin they will tell you to deal with Gravel, unless you talk to someone there who doesn't realise you are in Canada and they mistakenly tell you to send it to Marlin in the U.S.A. and much hilarity ensues. Except it won't really be funny, or fun.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Going to pull it apart and give it one more clean and trip to the range before I send it back.
