Hello, I recently purchased a Stag-10 and I am currently in contact with Arms East to see what they can do to help fix it.

I am just looking for a bit of help of what should be done to fix it. When I received the rifle and noticed the hand guard was not center with the barrel and then that the gas block was shifted aside as a result. I took off the hand guard and re-centered the gas block to it's proper position. Even after this, the hand guard was still slightly shifted toward the left when aiming down sights and visibly resting on the gas block (https://imgur.com/a/9w4KfsT). I cannot adjust the hand guard since it is a tight fitting and does not afford play even when loose.

Has anyone had this issue with the newer Stag-10 Models?

Thank you in advance for any help or information.

You can probably tighten or shim the barrel nut. This does require a little more tool than what the average shooter has. You need a vice, 308 receiver tool(Reaction rod type) and a wrench for your type of barrel nut. If I recall correctly that barrel nut uses AR15 style wrench. As far as I know thats the way to fix it.

Thank you very much for the help Pina. Hopefully I won't have to shim it since it's new. So far Arms East is working on it and they have been pretty quick to respond and get on top of it. Still nice to know though.

It's my first AR style rifle so naturally I'm just curious. Would you happen to know if this is common with free floating hand guards?

Different styles have different barrel nut requirements. Handguards like geissele is basically a clamp style and it doesn’t matter where the barrel nut stops at. Others like KAC free float or Larue has holes beside another hole, so it’s not hard to find the right location throughout the 30-80 ft/lb range(AR15). The problem you have is not a hard fix, but the hardest part if you were to fix it yourself would be finding 308 AR shims. The only place in Canada that I’ve found is at TNA, it’s rare stuff. Zach is a nice guy at TNA so I’d recommend checking them out. They have 308 reaction rods too.
