Hello all.

I am looking for all information regarding Hunting in Alberta I target shoot a lot and am now interested in moving to hunting. I know NOTHING about hunting so I need info.

How to get started. Ie heard you must buy tags for animals. How do you do things like this?

What gear is needed.

Can you shoot something and then take it home to guy skin all that or must it be done there. How do you do this.

Blah blah blah. Any knowledge is greatly appreciated even links to good YouTube for skinning or something. Just don't have any family to ask or show me the ropes so don't be a #### please

Sorry of writting is bad on my phone and keys are tiny.

first you need to take a hunter ed course after that you can apply for special licence tags or buy general tags and in the spring and summer go gopher shooting to practice. PM me if you want a place to go gopher blasting in the spring

Was new in 1957 , paper is fun but live game is a whole new game . As TedVR said you have to get your course & paper work up front .Book work is a must & if you shoot it you got to know what to do with it . Most every thing is edible , field care is paramount ! Again book work on recopies is of utmost importance . Good luck $ great hunting !

I think the best resource for a new hunter is youtube, just watch videos on all of the things you are wondering about! Finding land (ie permissions) around Calgary to hunt on is hard unless you go on crown land.

Don't even think about getting your education on Youtube. Far too many "Hey, Bubba. Watch me do this." types.
If you're not already a shooting club member, join one. Opens doors. Eventually, you will be invited to hunt with other member's. A place to go being the most difficult thing to deal with.
