brass locked in the die, pls help

BTW, don't forget to lube the inside of the neck with a case brush. If you look at the photo, it was not a problem with lube on the outside of the case it was a problem with not enough lube on the inside for the neck expansion bloom on the decapping rod.

Doubtful Bob, a six year old should be able to pull an expander ball through the neck of any cartridge. The case will get stuck partially inserted into the die if there is no/insufficient lube, and look exactly like the photo. If it was an expander ball/button issue, the case should be a heck of a lot farther out of the case, unless that die has the shortest decapping/expander assembly ever made.

FWIW, I never lube the inside of the necks while sizing, I don't need to. Besides, lube on the inside of the case has the potential to contaminate the powder (if one feels the need to lube the interior of the neck, formica is the only thing that should be used).

Cheers.

I had the same thing happen to me. I removed the threaded collar that holds the decapping rod in place and used a hammer on the decapping rod to pop the case out. You'll likely wreck the decapping rod (hard to hammer on it without bending it), but you can buy another one of those and not lose the whole die.

If the inside of the necks are cleaned, the sizing operation is much smoother. I have a short brass, bore brush on a short pistol rod and just rub that through the neck.
If the sizer comes hard through the neck, it may stretch the shoulder out just enough to make it hard going into the chamber of the rifle.
