Brass over bolt stoppage - I've never seen this before

That malf is the reason the MUTT tool has a hook on the end, you stick the hook in front of the bolt and rack it - after stripping the mag

I agree, the Leatherman MUT Tactical Multi-Tool has a hook to deal with this issue. It's called the "Bolt Override Tool"...

Alot of people dont ealize this...even if your bolt is half way back...u can still separate the upper...take the front pivot pin loose first then the rear take down then slide the whole upper forward

Humm.... it was a VERY long time ago... memory hazy... but I think we tried that and didn't work in my case. Sounds like it would work on a civie semi AR-15, but I think because the C7 is select fire, the auto-sear (or whatever its called, flappy bit that touches the bolt carrier) may be in the way, preventing the upper's pin block from sliding forward enough to clear the carrier in rearward posn. But I haven't handled a select fire C7 or M-16 in a very long time, just AR's and M4gery's.

That was the first stoppage I saw with the C7 rifle when they were shown to us during a range demo in 1986. We had the ####ty plastic mags that the lips broke off back then too, it was great to see a full mag of ammo fly out the ejection port when the mag was seated hard. Needless to say we were not impressed at all.
