I was experimenting today with some 30-06 brass and got some pretty good results.:)
First I started with a standard 30-06 brass and FL resized it in my 8x57 Mauser die and trimmed it. I then tried it in my Yugo 8mm and it fit nicely.:)
After that I resized the same case in my 7x57 FL die and trimmed it and it fit into my Remington 700 7x57.
After that I took the same brass and ran it through the .308 Win. FL sizer and trimmed it, since I don't have a .308 Win. yet I don't know if the resized case will fit but all the others worked out fine.:D I compared the case to a .308 Win. marked case and visually they looked the same, but after I get a .308 I will try it and check for fit.

Just watch neck thickness when you are necking down, or forming a shorter case. If the neck is too thick you could get a serious pressure spike. It may be necessary to either ream or turn the necks. I have a .243 form die set. It can make .243 cases from any of the longer cases. It has a reamer die; you ream at .25, and then do a final sizing to .243.
I've made 8mm from .30-06 and .270, .300 Savage from .308, 6mm, .270, etc.
Imperial Sizing Die wax is an excellent lube for case forming.
Also, case volumes can vary from original brass in the caliber, so watch your loads.

I knew the neck thickness may be an issue ,if I was using the brass as formed I would have a neck reamer and do each case before firing. But I have a lot of proper brass for all of my irons and just wanted to see if it could be done without a lot of fuss.:D

There was a time when converting MS to 7.62x39 was the only way to get brass, but MS is so much less common these days. Seems painful to think about it now. Or .303 Savage to 9.4 KNIL.
