Where do you get brass roll pin punch? Brownell is not worth it if I just want that and Amazon is over priced.

Any Canadian retailers that carry them?

Brass deforms too easily to be a pin punch. You simply won't find such a thing. I know I've never seen any other than the flat ended style.

If you're actually pushing roll pins out then you want a proper steel punch anyway. Especially on the smaller sizes the brass will bend, snap or deform the end into a mushroomed wad that sticks in the hole.

Those are regular flat faced punches, not roll pin punches. As has been said, roll pin punches have a roughly half spherical projection in the center of the face. It's purpose is to keep the punch centered on the end of the pin.

As others have said..never seen a brass roll pin punch....because a roll pin punch stays centered on pin by design...and if you 'happen' to mar the tough roll pin... you slip in a new one...no biggy! Be very curious if you actually find a brass roll pin punch though!

Princess Auto has everything you need. I bought a steel punch set, a brass punch set (which sets and removes the roll pins on my XD9 perfectly despite detracting posters above), and a small double ended hammer, one side brass, the other Nylon. All have worked exactly as I envisioned. Prices are cheap there as well.

Brass roll pin punches quickly get damaged from the roll pin... My steel roll pin punches are 25 years old and working fine and have never damaged anything.

Do you guys know the pin that hold the trigger guard in place? I call it roll pin. Isn't that what it called? I was using brass punch to avoid damage to the AR finish. The brass punch was working flawlessly and not damaged.

Sounds like a regular flat face drift punch is what you are after, and if it is just the one size you want, one could take a few inches of brass rod and make a custom punch with it. That being said, there is nothing wrong with using a steel punch.

A 3/16" steel punch with a spent small primer on the tip makes a good non-marring punch for things like sights. Brass or plastic punches can sometimes be too soft and deform before moving a part that fits tightly.

A regular steel roll pin punch will work just fine on an AR trigger guard roll pin. The nub on the end of the punch engages the hole in the pin and prevents marring.

I got them already from Amazon. The whole set comes with plastic, steel, brass punches, a hammer with brass and nylon sides, and a case. It is made by Wheeler.
