Hi ALL
... if I'm not mistaken it's called Hiker, hinge action, single shot, really small one (looks like it's stock is longer than barrel).
What it would be goot for? Any other links/info would be good too

Thanks

Sounds like the Brazilian made backpacker by Boito or Stoeger. 12" bbl

They are good for making a loud bang and shooting small game. They do shoot a bit high (or low, can't remember) so they take some getting used to... WEAR EAR PROTECTION!!!

I couldn't find a picture online, but does it look like this minus the bbl?

Yeah... Thanks bill c68. What about kick of .410? (Q came from my wife ;) and I never shot one...)
Hope they don't shoot a foot high on 20yrds? ;)

I don't think there is much if any difference in recoil, but definitely loud enough to be unpleasant. I have a large revolver holster that I cut a few threads out of so the bbl could pass through. Holds the gun quite nicely.

You can buy it new for around $149-$200 depending on the store.

They were at one time available with a pistol grip as well, can't remember what they called that one, but it was definitely restricted.

I had one for a while. It doesn't really kick, but it is quite loud. The one I had shot high - almost a foot at 20 yards. I installed a plastic rifle sight in the front and got used to where it shot. I broke a few clays with it at the trap field (yes I got some funny looks ) but it was a good little truck gun for grouse. I prefer to shoot grouse with a 22, but sometimes I still wish I had it under the seat on a hunting trip.

Good luck.

Thanks guys that's exactly where I see it's purpose :)
Last question (I promise! ;))... How was the extraction? and I wonder if you foud it convenient to operate moving trigger guard forward?

The model I had, the trigger guard pulled rearward. It was pretty easy and extraction was no problem. I can't remember if it ejected the shells or if I had to pull them out, either way, it was quite easy.

:D

Hi guys, I'm back with my silly questions. I found one for $149 and bought it. It comes with a VERY short manual - part list and exploded view... I couldn't find any info what type of choke this little beast has... Most 410s AFAIK use full, but I'm not sure if it's the case for Hiker. Any idea?

Hi fat tony and ALL
Out of curiousity, I just came across the post about shooting slugs in full choke barell (Rem 870). Would it be ok shooting slugs with Backpacker's barell? Have anyone tried that?

Thanks
