Looking for a fair value on this rifle. It`s Itajuba manufacture, faint scrub marks , non matching .
Bore is fair , not good, just fair.
I fired it , functions well , K98 is smoother.
Any experts out there?
Any guesstimates ?
Hopefully pics at https://imgur.com/a/aTjTgXD

Thanks

The question to me is, what does one cost to buy, not what its worth.
As I see a lot of guns with price tags much higher than their value.

For 250 I doubt you can find any mauser regardless of condition.
Let's break it down 100 dollar stocks, 150 dollar barrels, 150-200 dollar bolts.... want a receiver too?
I think a rifle like this is an easy 400. After all it is a full length mauser 98 chambered in a popular, easy (read as inexpensive) to find and reload cartridge.
Bare in mind that the good people of the internet have converges of a brittle overly hard receiver on these... I don't know one way or another.

Thanks guys ,
I really did think $250 was rock bottom as I see common beater M44`s go for more.
I was thinking higher as it`s not as common and I also probably underrated the bore .
IT passes the bullet test but it`s dark.
Fair answer though Claven2 based on the info I gave.

True, parts do generally cost more...... but what's the point of parts kits than? Most guns come apart rather easily and quickly, therefore one could make a mint buying and parting out..... unfortunately only some parts are in demand, and others would be hard to move.

I find that you should add 50-75 percent to the what people on forums value guns. Unless of course you are looking at the EE.

FWIW, these itajubas are pretty much bottom tier mausers, alongside beat up spanish guns and chinese mausers. If anyone has seen one in the flesh, there is no way you would pay $150 for just the bolt as one poster suggests. That's just not realistic.

Ok, sorry I overvalued the bolt. The bent bolts do command a premium with all the straight bolt Russian capture k98ks.
Mine was a more general post. I see a lot of $1000 Russian capture k98ks that are pitted and very rough all around. There's a vendor that wants 1200 for a RC, add shipping and tax to that. As I said before, things appear to cost much more than they are worth.
Maybe I'm wrong, this is just how I see it.

This is a Brazilian rifle made in the 1950s with all parts made in Brazil right? Brazil invested heavily in domestic manufacturing after 1945 through the 1950s. They have nothing to do with the WII era. I would not assume it is made of scrap metal nor would I compare it to a German military rifle of the 1930s. I don't know anything about Spanish made K98 design service rifles. It seems there is a lack of information about them as with the Brazilian rifles. Lots of pure speculation about quality of materials, process controls, quality ctrl, etc. I saw a mint example of an M1954 $450 two years ago.

Remember this was designed to meet all the specifications of a service rifle. It just so happens every army in the world wanted self loading service rifles in the same era.

One thing to take note of is the M1954 incorporated a grenade spigot. The spigots do not seem to exist in the modern world.

One sold on icollector 2 days ago for 350. I think auction fees were 18 percent.

And a bare straight bolt body, mistery m98, 130 shipped is being asked on ee. I really don't think I was too for off for a bolt. Especially since bent ones command more than straight.
