Beautiful piece.....
Nice find ...
I collect and shoot these old South American Mausers ....
I have two Brazilian 1908's (7x57) and a Brazilian 1935 (7x57), all look like they were made yesterday. Like yours, they came with matching bayonets and scabbards. I also have a "shooter" 1908 with a gorgeous bore, but she had obviously been fired before and the light wood knocks indicate she had seen some service.
They are all "in the white" and in my opinion, some of the finest examples of Mauser workmanship.
In the last 8-12 months, for the three in virtually new condition, I paid between $350 and $500. The used one I picked up at a gun show last month for $200.
BTW, I also have several 1909 Argentines (7.65x53) in similar condition to the Brazilians with matching bayonets and scabbards. One of my better finds was a 1909 full military Argentine sniper rifle, mounted with a 1927 Nedinsco-Zeiss 4x31 riflescope. Like the Brazilians, they are also fine examples of Mauser workmanship, but the caliber is a little odd.
