BRB Systems Voice Release

Has anyone purchased one of these systems for use on a trap field? We have used the Canterbury systems for many years, but the BRB system is significantly cheaper ... any comments on the BRB system?

I don't know anyone using the BRB system but I sure like the idea of going wireless. One of the clubs that I belong to has recently changed a bunch of sporting clays machines over to wireless and what a work saver that has been, I've spent countless hours over the years untangling cords after people have rolled them up or hung them carelessly!

The BRB systems are well made, work well and are much cheaper.

The parts / components on the BRB wired system are interchangeable with the Canterbury wired systems. We originally bought Canterbury systems for our 4 trap fields but buy and use BRB replacement parts as they are much cheaper. BRB weren't around when we were purchasing the new systems. We've had to replace control boxes, mics and a relay. All BRB components on Canterbury units. If we needed to buy another voice release system I would buy BRB.

The BRB wireless system is NOT interchangeable with the Canterbury wireless. A club I frequent have both the BRB wireless and Canterbury wireless. I can't tell the difference.

Our first system was a wireless Canterbury, which worked great for many years, but over time, became undependable. We spent some money on them a couple of times and they were still undependable. Trap shooters get cranky when the equipment doesn't operate properly, so we switched that system over to wired. There are a few other clubs around with the wireless units, one has constant problems with "no targets" and the other doesn't. The units at the second club are newer and haven't seen as much use. Perhaps, the newer ones are more dependable. The BRB ones may prove to be better than the Canterbury. I'm not real familiar with the sporting / 5 stand wireless units, but I know one club that uses a Promatic wireless system with Promatic machines and they work well.

The wireless units on the sporting clays machines that I'm referring to are all promatic and they have worked well. All of our trap machine's have canterbury wired units and they have worked pretty good but they're prone to problems over time, mostly with the wire connections.

Agreed, a little TLC and maintenance is required for everything.
