I own both of these in the aerosol form. Both claim to clean, lubricate and preserve/protect but have completely different textures and smells.

I would like to know everyone's opinion on which one is the best all around?

TIA:confused:

CLP is a better solvent, but G96 is much more pleasant to use, and seems to protect my guns just fine. I use a proper solvent for bores anyway, and am happy to have been turned on to G96 for general oil/preservative use.

I have used both extensively. I haven't seen anything that would make me think that one product cleans, lubricates or preserves any better than the other and both are excellent.
However, I don't have to shake the bejabbers out of G96 when I want to use it and I find the smell of G96 appeals more to me than Breakfree.
Also, when I started using G96, it was more readily available and less expensive.
Therefore, until something more appealing comes along, it's G96 here.

I'm happy to hear you think the cleaning capability is as good as CLP, currently have a few dirty guns 'sweating' down in G96, and will post something after they get a pull through. If it's half as good as CLP on cleaning, it's better to work with enough to give it the advantage.

I have used Break Free for yrs, its great stuff. I also use the Break Free "Powder Blast" (aerosol) to clean real nasty dirty stuff. It blasted Cosmo off my last rifle with nooo problem. You just have to remember to lube everything afterward since Powder Blast is just a solvent and has no lubricant.

I have used G-96 all around for years; we had BreakFree when I was serving in the military and it is a fine product, but G-96 does it for me now, easier and more pleasant to use. And if I get my wife to put a little behind her ears . . . works all around indeed!
