I've been trying to locate this product locally without any luck. Halifax area. I know in the states it is available everywhere....how about in our fine country?

.... You might ant to try some of the Automotive Supply stores... failing that check the 'phone book for Industrial Suppliers. Maybe even business that specialize in Lubricants and Diesel repair shops. It's really quite a common substance, the trick is to find the local source ! Good Hunting !!! ..... David K. ....

I finally found some (after looking locally) during a recent trip to Vaughn Ontario's Bass Pro -> I believe they also ship. Haven't used it since the 80's (with the CF) and am looking forward to trying out the 'civilian' version. Wish I'd bought more than 1.

.... I've seen in a few repair/rebuilding shops, "Break Free" / CLP in 4 gallon drums. ..... A little of the stuff really does go a long way, so, find the "right shop" and maybe they'd part with a bottle ? .... David K. ....

I asked the same question on here repeatedly and nobody ever answered. I ended up buying it on ebay, now I have too much of it...;)

Unless you have some specific reason for using Break free there are far better products available.

How come! I use militec too, but CLP is super all around.

I even used it on an outdoor padlock that was stiff....amazing how fast it slicked it up.

They changed the formula of Break Free around 1994. It previously had a chlorinated solvent in it, which was superior for penetrating and cleaning. It is still very good.

Years ago, my dad had sprayed the front calipers of our then 12 year old, very rusty Suburban. But he oversprayed onto front suspension components. After a couple of weeks the front end started "clunking". When we checked, the bolts holding the lower A arms to the frame were loose and the bolts holding the shocks had come off. I was astounded. We then took the Break Free away from him. ;)

Oh ok, I don't use it for copper, just general cleaning, preserving and lube. I use Barnes (good) or Sweets (better) for copper, and Hoppe's elite (and others) for carbon.

I like CLP for for touch up cleaning and wipe down (do this regularly...it's a bonding thing).

If I'm not cleaing seriously (stripping) after a short range session I still qtip the chamber area and run a couple of CLP patches through the bore. It's excellent for that, and a little goes a long way.

I used to be a Break Free user.

Try Wipeout and you will never go back to Break free.

Squirt it in the bore and leave it overnight if you want. Wipeout will not hurt the bore, will not leave a build up, and it removes everything from the bore.
Wipe out is non toxic and even smells good.
You don't even need a bore brush!

You are wrong to assume you are removing all of the jacket fouling with Break Free. If you don't believe me look carefully at your muzzle.

CLP was dropped by the US military after the formula change. Noi longer mil-spec. They now use a superior product sold by the Wipe Out folks that is sold commercially as MAXX. If you read your forum mail before 5Pm this afternoon I could drop some CLP off in Halifax for you--no charge. I haven't used it in a long time.
I will be in Halifax with a army cadet activity this weekend. I no longer care for CLP myself and would be glad to clear out my old supplies. Just can't bear to throw something away that someone might want.
PM me and I will give you a phone number.
