If you buy a brand new handgun, lubricate it correctly and prepar it for the range, will it be "stiffer" for the first few trips to the range? I've heard people say they have bought new guns and have had jams (on another forum though the ammo could've been the culprit), and parts very stiff to operate. Is this normal for a new gun?

most "require " a few hundred rounds to break in- esp the autos- about 4 boxes of 50, then strip, clean, re-lube and you're good to go- almost like the parts need to"set" together

I have a Walther P22. It took 40 rounds or Hyper Velocity ammunition to loosen the recoil spring. Now it accepts every ammunition I feed it (except Hyper Velocity and game shot)

Many of the new shooter's problems with "malfunctioning" new firearms is actually grip related. Semi's require a good solid grip and stance for the slide to resist against.

Newer guns aren't really all that stiffer than older ones, it's usually just newer owners getting used to them.
:D
