Breaking in a new barrel

I have witnessed significant reductions in grouping size with new barrels before and after apply a polishing/lapping procedure with JB Bore Bright.

Specifically, I was not getting satisfactory group sizes with my new DTA SRS 308 and 338 barrels. The QC Manager at DTA provided me with explicit instructions on what to do, and it worked.

It's not all BS, although without question, a lot of the drivel found in gun mags is info-marketing to sell product.

If you need to do that to a barrel to make it work, the workmanship of that barrel is shyte.

As to Mr. Krieger's opinion - it is just that: An opinion. It is not scientific, it is not proven, and has not undegrone the scrutiny of evidence-based research. Barrel break-in is the shooting sport's version of male circumcision.

Anyone with a background that is the least bit scientific or technical knows full-well what this means, and its significance. The technical and scientific world has long since learned not to rely on reams of lore and anecdote to support practices or claims.
