nope no green monster s**t on an MP40.
Cleaning handguns is very easy, if you can youtube an MP40 dissassemble/reassemble video than do just that. Take it appart completely, clean every single peice up, lightly oil and reassemble. I always love cleaning new guns :D

But for "breaking in" nahh. Fire the living s**t out of it man. Its a gun after all, thats what they were made for! do it up, have fun, keep it safe! (Fun should be top priority :D)

I bought a brand new Dan Wesson .45 Commander Classic bobtail last year and the recommended break in procedure was to put a little oil on the slide rails, barrel where the barrel bushing slides on it and on the top of the chamber where the slide moves back and forth across it.

This is to be done until 500 rounds have been fired, at which point the official break in is complete.

Of course, this is on top of normal and proper maintenance.

I followed the recommendation and everything is fine. Gun shoots like a champ. I like to play it on the safe side when it comes to stuff like this.
