Breaking in a Urika II... target load ok?

I read conflicting reports, some say break in with whatever, some places say 50 high brass shells, some say 200 high brass.
Buddy broke in his browning silver with a case of target load, so figure it should be fine for the berreta too, but what is the idea behind using a heavier load?

The idea is to break in the springs, and get everything loosened up... every gun is different though. The beretta is gas operated, mine cycled target loads right out of the box. Try target loads first and see how she does. If you get FTE's a couple boxes of heavy loads should do it.

I have two 391s and the heaviest I have ever used is 3 dr. eq. 1 1/8.

Neither of mine required a break in with heavy loads. Target loads were fine. Just make sure the gun is cleaned of any factory preservative coating and shot "wet" meaning well lubricated with G96, Breakfree or similar lubricant.

Sweet, good to hear just shoot whatever.

I use microlon for my rifles and pistols, but this is a dry lub, should I pick up some G96 for the shotgun?

Advice received from Beretta was clean, light lube (apparently they like to be run fairly dry) and several hundred heavier loads. Keep piston fairly oil free but lubricate threads. Great disassembly and maintenance guide on shotgunworld forum.

For what it's worth, I put about 10 or 20 medium 2 3/4 inch hunting loads, followed by a hundred or so trap loads, thru my brand new from box A400. No problems (other than not enough time or monery to shoot all day, everty day.)
