Hello,

I'm the proud owner of a new Ed Brown 1911 Special Forces, 5" slide.

Apparently Ed Brown does not make recommendations for how to break in their firearms, other than 500 rounds need to go down the tube.

I wanted to put this out there for your thoughts...

Other high end 1911's all have varying break-in's recommended by the manufacturer. Nighthawk for example, instructs their customers not to field strip and clean the gun until 500 rounds have gone through it.

A good friend of mine, who I would consider an expert, recommends that every 50 rounds I completely field strip it until I get to 500 rounds.

Postings on other forums are all over the map and greatly contradict each other.

This firearm is extremely tight and I want to break it in right. It should be about to shoot 0.9" groups at 25 yards and I'd like it to be able to continue to do that. Accuracy is paramount to me, both short and long term and is the reason I dropped the dough on the EB.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks !
