"Sorry guys I don’t think there’s any information I can link to.

My understanding is that Advanced Systems is shut down entirely, as is the Custom Shop. Colt Canada will be stripped down to little more than the C8 production line and the extraneous people just had their jobs eliminated. The SWORD and MRR programs sound like they’re shelved. From the sounds of things, a lot of job losses.

That’s what I am hearing, anyway."

Hey look at the EE. 20 percent increase on CC products due to this news. All kidding aside that sucks. I hope there is some replacement work for the workers affected. What does this do for the Ranger Rifle program?

Colt Canada Kitchener location (main plant) was not affected.

Ranger and C6 programs were not affected.
MRR production was not affected.
C8A4 anniversary run is still going ahead.

The blog was not 100% accurate.

Maybe the workers can buy the company. (Thinking about Colt Canada) Revive Diemaco and keep/purchase the Colt licenses as an exit strategy. Canada's armourer should not be allowed to fail. The last thing I would want is a Crown Corp. I'm not suggesting that.
I'm sorry about the impact on the employees. There has to be a way to restructure things to be profitable.

^^ Good to hear that the Kitchener plant was not affected. Thank you for that update.

"The Canadian government declared Colt Canada/Diemaco a national security asset during the Harper era. Believe me, if Colt goes too far with CC the Canadian government will take it over on its terms. The Canadian defense establishment is very protective of the home grown ability to produce rifles."

I grabbed this off the Colt Forum. Anyone know if its accurate?

If the Ar15 was non restricted I bet they wouldn’t be able to keep up with demand for years.

I agree especially with so many people these days who like paintball, airsoft and FPS games. Licensing is probably what turns a lot of people off of owning firearms in this country. I just have my NR and it was almost five months before I could buy my first shotgun....

Much as I'd like to get my RPAL in my humble opinion the headaches are not worth it ( and I require security clearances for my work at OPG, I know paperwork hassles.)

Colt USA management and ownership is what has caused this apparently. Colt USA President should be talking too VP Pence/Trump administration to get CC production replacing much of Colt USA or something on that line. The Colt USA manufacturing plant should be cut in half and replaced by CC, CC production of C7/8 IUR etc is superior to Colt USA. Itar should make an exception for Colt USA or something. They need to get creative.

I am sure they could trade their pensions for it.

Only if done right, the BC forest industry went through this in the 80's and 90's the big mistake was not canning the management that put the companies in this position. All they did was give them more money to waste.
