Planning to get Bren 2 MS 16.5".

I am looking at 2 different pictures with the same SKU 3724-6435-AFKHJDX (But in the description they say actual product may look different).

Most of the new posts I am looking at state that they got the flat top without the Iron Sights (5 M-LOK slots on the side with Old/Version Muzzle device, long Mag picture).

But I saw one in Calgary Shooting Center which is 16.5" which looks like the one with the iron sights (3 1/4 M-LOK slots on the side with new Muzzle device, shot Mag picture)

If I am ordering online, how can I check which one I will be getting?

Not a big help I’m sure but, I purchased one a couple weeks ago. Thought I’d receive the one on the left, no sights. It was advertised.223 as well. I called and they confirmed, said it was stamped .223, no sights. Received the one on the right, stamped 5.56, had sights, and the rail on the right. Go figure, was a pleasant surprise though! Great shooter!

I got the one on the left from IRG. Prefer the m-lok but also changed the hand guard to the 15.8” so it didn’t really matter.

Miss the iron sights obviously as I’m not stoked to buy those. But I love the firearm so it’s a moot point. Still trying to work out an optic.

The first photo with 5 MLOK slots is the CZ-USA version.
It has a US-made handguard (not made by HBI contrary to popular belief here on this forum), handguard receiver plates, adjustable stock, operating rod subassembly, and disconnector.
The polymer lower is not marked with a serial number or proof marks.
It comes with the old Bren 805 muzzle device (brake + flash hider in one) and does not come with folding backup iron sights.
This version was made specifically because USA has laws surrounding importation of rifles.
They need a certain number of parts to be made in the USA in order for RIFLES (not "pistols") to be sold there. They refer to this as "922r compliance" named after the law found at "Title 18 of the US Code, Chapter 44 Section 922 subsection R".

The second photo with the squared handguard is direct from Czech Republic/Czechia.
It does not come with the USA-made parts listed above, but instead CZ-made parts.
The polymer lower is marked with the serial number and proof marks on the Czech imported rifles.
It comes with the twisted flash hider and backup iron sights. The backup iron sights are made by CZ under license by Troy Ind. and are the same dimensionally but do not have tritium, they have photoluminescent (glow in the dark when charged with light) sights.
It should come with a CZ-made polymer magazine although somewhere along the importation line someone is replacing these with crappy aluminum no-name magazines. They are usually poorly pinned. At least this has been my experience.
If you buy a 7.62x39 version it will come with a small 5/10 pinned polymer CZ-made magazine and an AR magwell adapter to use 7.62x39 AR mags. It used to come with a 5/30 when they were first imported.

If you buy a Bren 2Ms that is NOT the 16.5" 5.56 carbine (i.e. the 8" or 11" 5.56, 9" or 11" 7.62x39, or 14"), it will come with the "waffle stock" which is the original stock from CZ, if it is imported direct from CZ. If it came in from America it may come with the stock (this would be added after it came to Canada due to USA SBR laws) or it may come with a buffer tube adapter which is how they shipped in the US as they were sold as "pistols" which do not have the same 922r law requirements.

Wow,

Thank you so much for the information. Really appreciate it.

I am looking for the 2nd photo one (Czech Republic/Czechia) with the twisted flash hider and iron sights, but I have been told that when people ordered one, they got the other, even after calling and checking with the seller.

They have all been very happy with whichever gun they got but its a bit of game of luck what you end up getting at this point, unless you are lucky enough to be living close to a shop which has it available for you to see it yourself before buying.

No problem. That information is correct to the best of my knowledge.

If I were you I would tell the store that you either want a photo of the exact rifle that you are buying, or tell them you will be returning it if it isn’t as described. I think that’s reasonable.

Good luck in your search.
