Bren 2 vs APC223 weight difference? 8 or 11 inch SBR variants

Hey guys:

Wanted to see if anyone has owned or handled both the 8" or the 11" Bren 2 as well as the 8" or 10.74" inch barrel version of the APC223? Is the APC significantly heavier than the Bren 2 or is the difference negligible?

I am in the market for a 223/556 SBR, even though shorter barrel length may mean slower velocity/more bang, I think that's okay given I will only be shooting paper targets less than 100M. I am also a smaller person, so having a SBR makes more sense ergonomically.

I've handled both the 8" and the 11" barrel version of the Bren 2 at my local gun store and I really loved it for its weight. But I am undecided between this or an APC223 of similar barrel length. Given this will be my first and probably only 556, I don't mind spending an extra 1.5-2K for the APC and waiting a few months for it. The consensus seems to be that the APC is a better built rifle.

I've handled the non-restricted version of the APC, and it was already too heavy for me. My biggest fear is that I buy the 8" or 10" APC and I find its weight a bit too much for me. Normally I'd go into the store and try both, but it's just not possible to handle a 8" or 10" APC at the moment.

So for people who have both or shot/felt both, did the SBR APC feel significantly heavier than the Bren 2? If the weight difference is negligible, I think I will go with the APC, but if it's a lot heavier, I will probably go with the Bren 2.

Thanks so much!

You said you handled the NR APC? How heavy was it? Interested in it for target shooting on crown lands (so no restricted for me). If it's a beast compared to the BREN NR I might just have to wait it out for a NR BREN.

Never mind, saw in another post the NR APC223 is approx 9.5lb. Pushed me to the Bren 2.
