Bren Tripod

Picked up a tripod for my dewat Bren MKII

This tripod has 2 extra pieces stored in the tubes. I was told they're anti-aircraft legs. I haven't found any info on these, but my library is rather lacking in this regard . Anyone know how they are supposed to attach? A picture is worth a thousand...

Join the two pieces together, and slide the machined end into the slot located at the front of the tripod. Youll have to adjust the back two legs so they are just about straight. The bren clips onto the front leg, which should be pointing up into the air.
In lieu of the anti-aircraft extensions, a no1mk3 rifle will also lock into that slot.

During the war, it was decided that the hosepipe method of antiaircraft fire was preferable over trying to run around a tripod trying to follow an aircraft, and the legs were supposed to be discarded.

I'd post a photo for you, but it would be a half hour event to set up and get it online, thanks to dial up.

Is (was) that Bren a 4 cut or a 3 cut? Did you weld it or body fill it?

Of course I had to try that nice how the tripod takes the weight of the Bren. Shooting from the hip is not so easy. The Bren is rather heavy, but then most of the guys who carried them may have been rather large burly lumber jack type fellows

The cuts are that noticeable are they? Looks like a 3 cut. I've never scraped the paint to see how it was put back together, but I suspect it's been brazed. But since it was cheap I couldn't pass it by. Action cocks too!
