Are Briley chokes that much better than my standard Browning invector plus ones? Some say to upgrade is a good thing , id like to hear from some experienced shooters.

re briley

i bought briley extended chokes for use in my bt99 and am of the opinion that they help a little, i havent patterned them or the invector plus. the extra inch of barrel length might be the difference for me.

I don't use them anymore as my Perazzi is fixed but I had a set of ported chokes for my 682 Gold when I was young. I had a lot of issues with muzzle jump and a busted open cheek. They actually made a pretty big difference when shooting a single top barrel. Any time you can reduce recoil or muzzle jump you'll pick up a few targets in doubles as well. Just my 2 cents! :)

Before you spend a lot of cash on new chokes pattern the ones you allready have. You may find that you don't need new chokes.

Muller chokes are the new way to go. They are light, don't get dirty and won't go loose. I ahve patterned them against my Optima Bore chokes. On cheap ammo, they improve the pattern density. With high quality ammo, such as WIn AA Light or Extra Light, the differences are minimal.

Henry;)

Present day Browning Invector Plus tubes are made by Briley. I buy Briley when certain choke restrictions are not readily available. Briley will get the chokes you want in about a week. Browning Canada takes an eternity. I like Briley LM extended tubes because they are red and easy to find if they are not allready in my gun. Muller SCHMOOOOLer. If you like exotic designer tubes, go for it. It's cool! If it is better patterns that you want, first pattern the one you have. You may find that there is not much to be gained.

So making a pattern more dense makes it better? Sometimes I like the cheap stuff because it is not as dense!
