One of the weaknesses of the Beretta 391 is the forend cap and I'm thinking about replacing mine with the Briley version.

For those people who are using them how do you like it? Does it reduce the cleaning/rust issues? Does solve the seizing problem? I'm not looking to change the balance of the gun so how does the weight of just the cap itself compare to the factory? Any advice from people who've used or tried them would be appreciated.

I liked mine, I put it on there for weight, I never had rust issues with my 391, but I put the briley weight within a few weeks, I did have my 391 cap get stuck on there pretty good once, never had that problem with the briley weight.

The weight is definitely a bit more than the factory one, not sure of the exact difference, you can add weights to the briley weight to make it heavier.

I would get another one if I had a 391

Thanks. I make it a habit not to tighten down the forend cap when I store the gun but have forgotten a couple of times and it's very difficult to get removed. I've seen several other 391s with evidence that someone had use channel locks to remove it.

Briley says the cap itself is 4 ounces. The factory cap is three ounces. It also appears the Briley cap doesn't use the snap ring to hold the components in place which would make cleaning and remove much easier. Definitely going on my shopping list.
