Bringing Back a Scope From the States

I'm researching the prospect of ordering a simple sporting Leupold from Cabela's and bringing it back into Canada on my next trip South.

I've read the forum "sticky" on the subject and just about everything else I could find on the 'net.

My questions are,

1. Has anyone brought a regular sporting scope back across the border lately - declaring it, of course ?

2. Does Canada Customs really care as long as they get their taxes ??

3. Can you get an export permit from US Customs on your way back or is there simply no other way to skin the cat than noted in the sticky.

Seems really riduculous to to regulate sporting scopes to this degree - especially ones we can buy here in Canada...

1 YOU cannot get an export permit from the usa


you cannot just bring one back (while you physically could, your violating us
laws)


just buy it in canada OR call some us companines that have export permits and see if the scope you want is ok to ship here

IF it is you will need to get a canadian import permit and send it to them before they can ship you the scope

dont mess with the us they take the ITAR regs pretty seriously

get caught on us side you, Min you lose the scope, maybe your car/truck huge fines and possible criminal charges and a ban from usa or hassles crossing from now on.....

its NOT worth it to do it with out the proper paperwork
