I did not know where to post this but this seems as good as anywhere.
On Friday Sept 30 I called the American ATF (alcohol, tobaco and firearms) to ask permission to import my hunting long guns into the US for a hunting trip. The ATF have a F 6NIA (5330.3D) form on their web site to download and return. This is for the temporary importation of forearms into the US by a nonimigrant alien. I am very pleaseed to say Canadians are allowed to FAX their applications and supply a return fax # to await the ATF reply.
I am also happy to report I recieved my approvel answer in less than 4 days.
I do believe this is the only good thing that has come out of the gun registry. You see For a Canadian to apply we must supply our gun lic and registration #s for the guns we want to import. What do you think?

So if I buy a non-resident WA deer license, get a a F 6NIA (5330.3D) approved, I can drive from Abbotsford to Chehalis, buy some Garrett ammo legally and return to Canada with the unused ammo?

Is this right?

in theory yes but the washington license is quit expensive offsetting the illegal gain.

The US hunting licence gives you permission to purchase and possess the ammo in the US ONLY. Exporting it to Canada still takes a US export permit(US LAWS), not just a hunting licence and to get that you need a Canadian import permit to show the US Gov that its allowed to be imported into Canada.
