British Army sharpshooter to get new rifle

The articles say it will be manufactured by LMT. It would be nice to see a trickle down .308 from LMT to compete with the SR 25 and AR 10.

The Hk417 was not as accurate.

LEI had an 18" and 20" barrel available, but the 16" exceeded their accuracy requirement, and the desire was for as compact weapon as possible.

The LMT gun if you see the pictures uses a SR-25 type lower with integral ambo mag release - the same type of lowers we use on our commercial guns, however they are manufactured by LMT.
LMT and KAC has a long history of working together, however while we supply some parts to LMT (and them to us) they are building the upper and lower in house.

The "truth" is that they have learned to "never do your enemy a minor injury" and want to issue something that puts an enemy down more efficiently.

I understand that the L129A1 is a replacement for the aging Acccuracy International L96A1. The short coming of a bolt rifle were seen in Afgan as the L96A1 was out classed by the SR-25 ie fast second shot follow-up on a miss.
