British Markings

I am just starting to collect older cooey firearms and I have run across a model 84 12 ga. that has british proof markings on it. Has anyone seen any cooeys with british markings or have any information on these. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any gun imported into the UK must pass proof unless it comes from a country with reciprocal proof agreements. Because there isn't a government proof system in North America guns made here have to undergo proof testing at Birmingham before they can be sold in the UK.

I've seen various UK proofed North American guns including a revolver that had proof marks over each chamber.

That Cooey sounds like it has an interesting history.
