finally got my 581 22 semi out last weekend but i was disapointed as it kept jamming up using dynapoints. i didnt have another type of ammo with me to try...

after firing, the next round would only go halfway up into the chamber and the bolt would hit the next round on the side putting a nice dent in the brass.

something wrong with the mag and its not pushing the next round up fast enough? not powerful enough loads for this gun? just needs a good cleaning?

ive never owned a semi before so dont know where to start:redface:

More than likely the mag. Sometimes the lips of these mags require "tweaking". Have you had the rifle apart yet ? Is it assembled properly ? Do you know if the action spring is original or has it been replaced ? The 511 spring's will work in a 581, but they are much stiffer.
I find that my 581's work best with a very minimal amount of lube.
Nothing wrong with Dynapoints in these rifles, I have 2 581's and a 511, Dynapoints function extremely well in all of them.
One of the moderators here (reg) has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to these rifles, you may want to pm him, or perhap's he will respond to this thread.

it was my grandfathers but he no longer hunts so he gave it to me. he said that it worked fine for him and never jammed so im thinking it may just need to be cleaned as it sat for a few years without being shot.

he says that the gun is all factory parts and he has never had a problem with it...

how do i tweak the mag?
