Brno 602 barrel thread size

There are two thread sizes for M98... basically 1 inch or 1.1 inch x 12 tpi.

From what I have found on the internet:

Brno ZKK 600-601 is 1.020" x 2.00mm Pitch

Brno ZKK 602 is 1.100" x 2.00mm Pitch

The conversion from metric to imperial might be more automatic to some - I had to look it up. So an inch is apparently 25.4 mm. So a thread pitch in metric of 2.00mm would be equivalent to 12.7 threads per inch?

I do seem to recall original - made in Germany - M98 used a 55 degree thread - I think most North American suppliers do 60 degree thread form. No clue what the BRNO guys in Czech / Serbia used. Likely some detail about crests and groove bottoms on the thread form that I missed - I do not think they were "pointy" at either inside or outside. Likely need to find the spec for both the major and a minor diameter to be fully "correct". Is likely different than what "will work".

EDIT - various barrel tenon threads shown on page 178 Jerry Kuhnhausen "The Mauser - M91 through M98 - Bolt Actions: A Shop Manual". Six Mauser types shown - various lengths of tenon thread - Small Ring seems to be .960" x 12 TPI 55 degree Whitworth form; Large Ring seems to be 1.100" x 12 tpi 55 degree Whitworth form - notes throughout that USA produced barrel tenons done with 60 degree "standard" threads. Some versions - Small Ring receiver with Large Ring Tenon (e.g. G33/40); I am sure there were other versions Large Ring receiver with Small Ring tenon - some Turk Mausers?? - but Kuhnhausen does not list them. Main types use Small Ring Receiver with Small Ring Tenon, and Large Ring Receiver with Large Ring Tenon.

It would be going on a large ring Mauser. Doing the conversion from metric to English, I'm going to assume it won't fit.

I have that book, I don't know why it didn't occur to me to look there.

Thanks everybody for the help.

with a 1.1" threaded large ring mauser I would NOT be shocked at all if this barrel "Brno ZKK 602 is 1.100" x 2.00mm Pitch" fit, it may be a little snug after a a few turns but I think there is only about 5-7 threads on the barrel so it may tighten up before the .7 of the tpi starts to show up

there are large ring mausers that take small shank barrels .980" 12tpi so make sure its a large ring large shank if you dont already have it

i have a large ring small shank receiver and put a 71/84 mauser barrel (1" 12tpi, i just picked tye threads up and cut them .010 deeper on a lathe) on it then chambered it for 43 express

here is the info on the large ring small shank mauser 98's

Type VI, Oberndorf intermediate action
Action OAL: 8.750
Recvr screws, center to center: 7.835
Bolt body length: 6.165
Magazine length: 3.115
Receiver ring dia: 1.410, large ring
Barrel shank dia: .980, small shank

the Oberndorf intermediate action, as they are the only ones who produced it. Commonly encountered models include:
1903 Turk
1909 Peruvian
1935 Argentine
Oberndorf Commercial

here are some pics of the receiver and 43 express (375h&h family case trimed to 62mm and ran through a 43 mauser die)

this is the info I have on the holes in the receiver, i was wondering about them too.

"it was a rifle made for Paraguay that was shipped to Turkey for the first world war . the two holes in the rear receiver bridge were for an extended clip charger, this was a Turkish modification."

"At some point the Ottomans/Turks took in a large number of modified Paraguayan Mauser Model 1907s. They were fitted with extended clip guides, screwed onto the back of the receivers. This was likely done around WWI"

The metric threads can be fudged to fit a 98 large ring but it will not likely index .Not to mention head space.I have done it a few times so speaking from experience. There are better options for barrels .
