Howdy, Hivemind.

Bought the least expensive O/U gun Frontier had with a mind to having an additional break action gun for CFSC purposes. It arrived well used, but intact and functional. I got the thing apart, removed eight pounds of ancient grease and mystery-source freerange dustbunnies, pulled the firing pins, and am now at the very tail end of reassembly - reuniting front with back.

It's not going well.

It appears that the extractor is butting up against the top of the receiver in such a way as to preclude seating. I've approached this from every angle I can think of and the problem persists. I have two half-guns. I've watched a youtube video...

...that offers some ideas, but the main fix - pushing the "upper receiver half" back with the front end of the gun during reassembly - is not possible as mine appears to have kinda seized up.

Anyone familiar with the breed? What have I done wrong here?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

You gotta push the receiver rearward slightly to allow the barrel to engage the trunnions. Kind of a three handed operation till you get the hang of it. Reading your post, perhaps the receiver is slightly frozen in place, suggest you work it slightly beforehand. You should be able to move it by hand.

OK, back togather. The hammers were down and the safety on which bound the whole thing up tight. She's working well now.

An interesting piece. Sure big square Eastern Bloc technology.
