Brno Fox Mod.2 and Brno ZKK 601 - Differences??

What are the differences between the Brno Fox and the Brno ZKK 601 in the smaller calibres .223 etc

What can you tell me about the Brno ZKK 601 in .223? Good bad ugly....

The Fox has a butter knife bolt handle, double set triggers, detachable box magazine, and an action scaled down to the .222/.223 length. The 601 is a .308 length action, round bolt handle, and has a hinged floorplate.

I would choose the Fox over the 601 in .223, but the 601 would be my first choice for a .308 length cartridge.

In my view - 601 and the 600 are wonderful rifles. The front bbl screw is great as it can (in my practice) adjusted slightly to act as a kind off tuning device to try and tighten your groups.

the 600-601 are mauser type actions with single set triggers (that also came originally with a normal trigger that you could switch out) Rugged and accurate rifles.

They are all good rifles!

Yes the 601 is a 'meaty' action for the .223 BUT is still a genuine short action (many other .223's today are at best built on 'short' actions intended for the .308 familiy, so its really a moot point, only a few actions are actually scaled for the .223 famliy like the CZ527, Savage 25, Zastava 'Mini Mauser', Anchutz etc. Take a look at Tikkas action size for a .223 - its also 'way too big').

However the 601's in .223 were not common, so if you are a CZ fan, it would well worth picking up.

The ZKK series had well proportioned actions for .308 family (601), .30-06 family (600) and full length magnums (602). They also put std length magnums like the .458WM and .300WM on the long 602 action which was unecessary but probably lower cost due to bolt face dimensions etc. The ZKK's are great rifles with no plastic to be seen!

Yes, thats right. Its a short action made for the .308 family.

The .223 can fit into a smaller action, but few are made. I was responding to the beliefs that the 601 action is 'too big' for the .223.
