I've pulled the rear aperature sight off mine for scope rings, and now the front one looks out of place. What did this gun come with originaly and can it be replaced with original? If so where, if not what would be close?

If you want original, go to rimfirecentral.com and try to get in contact
with brnoman. He can also be found thru the parts section on guns america
under a differrent handle. Just go a search for Brno in non-guns section.

mod 5

The rear sight is a 50-75-100 folding leaf setup. I chose a scope long enough on mine that I did not have to mess with the rear sight. If you can get a hold of Brnomann, he should be able to help you. Good Luck. I can probably provide photos if you would like. Here is mine.

What kind of mount/scope combo did you end up using 10mark22?

I used medium Lynx 1" Rings and the following scopes wouldn't work no matter how I positioned them. The objective end always hit the rear sight.
Tasco Varmint 2.5-10x 42 W A/O
Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 4-12x40mm A/O
Bushnell Banner 3.5-10 X 36mm A/O

Finally settled on a Tasco Mag .22 Riflescope 3-9 x 32mm. I think I'll put a Weaver 2.5-7x28 on my #1 next.

scope/rings

I used Lynx high rings and a Tasco Target/Varmint 6-24X42. This scope is long enough to clear the rear sight and still give good position on the rifle. This particular scope is the mildot reticle style, it is ok for the money, but not real clear at 24X. It works good enough to get gophers out to 100 yards though, I paid $125.00 gst in with a set of shooting bags as a bonus, it was an ok deal. Later, Mark.

Thanks 10mark22. I own a few of the Tasco/Bushnell variable A/O type scopes in the $80 to $120 range. I have a Tasco Target/Varmint 6-24X42 on my CIL/Anschutz 180 and on my CZ452 Varmint 22LR a 6-24x50mm Tasco World Class Scope. They're ok scopes, especially for shooting targets but the resolution for some kinds of hunting is less then ideal. For example a Grouse's head is fuzzy enough that I can't easily tell what kind of Grouse it even is. I think I'll start biting the bullet a little and look at spending $200-$250 on the cost of the optics from now on.

BRNO Mod 5 original sights + Redfield peepsight(clk adjust)

Could somebody please tell me an approx. $ value of this great shootin' lil' rifle?;)
It is in excellent shape and shoots nearly a nice as my bsa target 22 but this thing is what I would call a hunting rifle because of its contours and weight.
It also has a rear 3-leaf sight with 50-75-100 leaves and an integral rail for mounting rings and scope.

A ball park figure would be a more than acceptable answer to my question stated above.

Thanks in advance.:dancingbanana:

ps have had trouble finding the brno website:confused:

This is what I've found in the current blue book:

MODEL 5
- similar to Model 1, except has improved trigger design and safety. Mfg. 1957-73.
Grading
100% 98% 95% 90% 80% 70% 60%
$650 $570 $515 $430 $405 $350 $295

The website is http://www.cz-usa.com/
CZ is the new BRNO.

By the way I've sent BRNOMANN (Denny) an email for sights, does he typically take a long time to respond? He poseted a reply to my post on rimfirecentral but not yet to an email. Could someone confirm his email address.

Yeah, sometimes he can be a little slow to answer, but he's always got back to me. He does have some reservations (I'm not sure why) about sending parts to Canada. You'll have to discuss that with him further.
