Saw the neatest gun at the gun-show. It's a BRNO model 1?

A semi-auto bolt action, you could shoot it as a bolt action or a semi-auto.

Looked very 1930s-1950s.

Anyone got or played with one?

It doesn't sound like a Brno #1 to me. Bolt action rimfire only. I should know, I have 5 of them.

Brno 451 (#1)
Bolt action operated, .22 long rifle chambering, Classic beech stock, straight comb, no checkering, Schnable fore end tip, front and rear sling swivels. Hooded front sight, integral barrel collar w/ 3 leaf folding rear sight (50 / 75 / 100 meter), in-line bolt shroud safety, 22 ¾” barrel. Oval shaped port, 16mm receiver sight rail, recessed magazine well. Weighing approximately 4 ¾ pounds, 41” overall. Manufactured 1946 - 1957.

I've had a couple Brno Model 1's myself...great little bolt action 22,....one of the best. Have a '72 vintage Model 2 now.....a good one also.

You must have the model # wrong...the semi-auto is the 511 I think.....

The trigger guard/mag housing was similar to the 511s that I found on line.

It looked almost like a conventional bolt action, there were 2 positions to lock the bolt down, forward & closed and rear and locked open.

The bolt was under spring pressure and stayed forward normally.

The bolt handle stayed locked up via a spring detent. It then functioned as the operating handle.

This kinda rings a bell, but I don't remmeber it being a brno. Your right about the bolt action/semi auto. If you lifted the bolt up it would fire s/a or you could work it like a reg bolt action-----Cowboy

Cowboy..Beretta had a .22lr that answers to that description.
