Hi all, since there are alot of people who are full of info on here, I thought I would ask what anyone knows about this gun. How are they compared to the other Brno models, what are the big differences. A main thing I would like to know, is if any of the cz magazines will work in a #5. Any other useful or interesting tidbits will be appreciated. Thanks in advance to any replies.

The BRNO number 5 is the nicest sporter that this company ever made. the other choices are the #1,#2 and the 2E. The wood on number 5's is almost always a nice piece of walnut. The one of these that I have shot had a hair, yet safe trigger and superbly accurate. All CZ mags and BRNO mags fit each others actions as the action are almost identical. Feel free to post a photo of this rifle for us and if you'd ever like to sell it or trade it, I'd appreciate a PM. FS

That is good to know that cz magazines will fit, I was a little worried about not finding any more. What is meant by "hair trigger", that it is very sensitive? There is something about the look of this gun that got me interested as soon as i seen it. Also the limited info online about them and the accuracy helped me as well. This is only a pic a sponsor sent me, I will add one with scoped attached as soon as my pal arrives and i get this home.

Hi Dewey,

You pm'd me asking about the trigger and accuracy of my #5.

To be honest my trigger had too much creep for my liking. I purchased a brookes trigger kit ($15) and fixed that right up. It now breaks crisp at about 2.5 pounds.

As for accuracy, I have so far only tried 1 type of ammo in it (win power points) and am happy with it. I'm sure if I play around with diferent ammo types it will do better but untill I get some time to play it's good to go the way it is. Attached is a target of the PP's at 25 & 50 meters (I'm guessing the one low shot @ 50M was me not the rifle).

Hope that helps........ K

ps - Excellent choice for your first rifle!

Yeah, you'll find a bunch of info over at rimfirecentral. I snagged a No. 5 a couple years ago. They're very nice, and I think you'll be happy with it. Triggers are the same as that on the No. 2, No. 4, and CZ 452, so you can do all the same work on them. And, yes, magazines are the same for all of them. Snatch it up if you can! :)

Dewey the brno #5 is the best of the brno series, the difference on these that I like is the left reciever wall wraps right up and a little over, almost giving you an ejection port like on benchrest single shots.Mine came set up for small bore target shooting and this shoots almost as well as my Winchester model 52C, wich really pleased me.There was only one brno that I ever owned that just would not shoot, and at that time I was not very knowledgable about bedding firearms so sold it to someone who did and he made that brno#4 shoot tacks.Regards Dale in T-Bay

Krazy, and all, got my wife a Brno #2, never fired, from an estate sale for $375. I put my old 4X32 Leupold on it as it was the only decent scope I had that would fit in standard low rings. We experimented with 5 or 6 different kinds of ammo, and the best by a long shot was the el cheapo Fed American Eagle from the farm store. I managed to get 5 bullets thru 3 holes, about .5 inch group at 45 yards. Wonder what it would do with a 9X or better scope. And the trigger... ah, so sweet!!
