I finally got my rifle, I love it!:dancingbanana:
It feels so nice, the action is really smooth and it comes up to my shoulder very nicely, way better than my old Remington.:p

The cal is 7x57, scope is a glossy Leupold 3x9x40 and the rings are Talley quick detach. Grand total is about $790 not bad eh.

I wanted the rings with screws but Corlanes only had levers in stock so I got them instead. The levers came in a separate bag do I need to install them, or can I just use the screws that came with them?

The cheek piece looks almost like its a part of the stock but I think it was added on, very nicely done though. Also, is the black diamond shaped piece inlaid into the stock original?

Any recommendations for a good gunsmith that is located in the Lower Mainland to mount the scope?

Very nice BRNO!!!!!

These are manufactured to tight tolerance and you should find the action very smooth.....trigger is adjustable and generally the rifle shoots far better than the guy behind it.

The Talley lever mounts require the levers to be installed to tighten up and cam onto the scope mounts machined into the receiver bridge. (I sent you a PM on the rings).

Your stock has a few modificstions...1) Pachmayr recoil pad added.... really not necessary on a 7MM however may have been added to lengthen the stock. It doesn't look like it's been shortened 2) Monte Carlo Cheek piece added as it appears the former owner shot with a scope ...blend in very well so a professional has done the modification 3)The black diamond inlay has tastefully been added to cover over the front barrel lug. I suspect that the barrel has been floated to improve on accuracy.

Let us know how it shoots.

Corlanes was being very nice to you. The rifle alone is worth what you paid for the whole package. I hope you buy most of your ammo and hunting clothes there. That model Brno is one of the nicest, especially with the choice of tangeant or pop up rear sight. Just a little advice, makde sure that the iron sights you prefer to use are shooting where you want them to before you mount your scope. Again, nice rifle. bearhunter

rgg_7, thanks for the info on the levers.

Bearhunter, I didn't get the rifle at Corlanes just the rings. The iron sights are the reason I got detachable rings, I want to try them on this years deer hunt.

Thanks for all the comments!

I don't know, I looked online for a list of the years that they were made but I couldn't find one.

Look for the two digit number on the left side of the rifle where the barrel meets the action. This model ran from 1947 to 1964, then the ZKK series was released.

Great looking rifle based off the Mauser 98. Can't say I'm a fan of the monte-carlo cheekpiece add-on though. But otherwise, VERY nice! :)

Salty,
I'll add your name to the list, but I don't think I will get rid of it any time soon.:D

The safety is a little stiff does anybody have some suggestions for that?

Got the scope on, I was going to get a gunsmith to mount it but I ended up doing it myself. Pretty easy actually, the most annoying part was getting the levers to point in the same direction. Now I just need to get out and shoot it.:D
Scope is a VX-II

Lots of spraying, cleaning, and working it might help. I'm a fan of G96 gun treatment. Its a stiff bugger to begin with if its like similar vintage mausers that I've had experience with...

Nechako could you please describe to me how these rings index, or return?

I have a 21 H which I would really like to put QD's on, but I cant convince myself how any of the readily available makes "return to zero"

There is no lacating lug, nor groove, how does one get the scope back in the same location repeatedly?

Thanks

Mark
