I love the tool. primed about 50,000 cases with it.

The spring around the primer rod broke.

The first time it broke was not a problem. It ran fine with the two pieces installed.

But now it broke again.

I emailed Frankford and they said this has never happened before and they don't have spare springs. ????


Looking for a 1.1" spring, about 0.3" OD
 
Goto the hardware store, they normally have racks of compression springs.

Does your have issues with the shell plates and not being centered with the ram? Mine leaves semi circles on the primers, and they send me bunch of new parts, with the same problem.

#2 looks like a good bet.

I currently have a Colt hammer spring in there, which works with the skinny small primer ram. But it is too small for the large Primer ram.

Until the spring problem, I loved the primer. It has worked well.

I found the original Lee worked well, too. But I wore it out.
 
Sorry to hear! I have had mine for ~2 years.. Primed lots so far without issue. I have tried others but I find the Frankford to be the best by far.
 
Lee primer shell holders work in the FA primer no problem.
Only cartridge that I had to buy a new shell holder for is the 224 Valkyrie. The shell holders it comes with cover pretty much all common cartridges.
 
I ordered one today to replace the old model Lee I broke a few years ago. Still have some auto prime Lee shell holder(kit) I might be able to use with it.

Their warranty is sweet. I had issues with alignment, and they sent me all new shell holders, and all the pieces for both large and small primers, minus the main body for free.

I totally forgot if they send me new springs... Ill go check.
 
It appears Frankford Arsenal started mailing spare parts to Canada (from USA), give them a call... A year or so ago my Primer Pocket Swager tool broke a spring, they could not ship back then. I recently called to inquire and looks like they'll be able to ship...
 
I phoned Frankford and spoke to a nice fellow who promised to mail me a spare parts kit. Better response than the one I got by email. ??
