Broke my second decapping pin -- S&B primers

I just broke my second decapping pin. Seems to only happen on cases with S&B primers. Anyone else have this issue. I think I have the technique down now so I don't break anymore. Hope so as I don't have anymore spares.

Going to see how Lee customer service is and tell them I broke two of their "virtually unbreakable" decapping pins. Maybe they will ship a couple for free.
 
Some of the foreign made brass can have smaller flash holes,S & B being one of them,they can also be slightly off center.

The SAAMI spec. for rifle cases using the large primer is 0.078-0.082. It is fine to ream them all to the maximum size of 0.082" using a No. 45 drill bit.

Small primer pocket rifle and pistol cases use SAAMI spec. smaller flash holes size of .074-.078, but some European CIP spec. brass use flash holes of .062-.066 it would be fine to drill the SR and SP cases out using the proper bit to match the SAAMI specs. A #47/.078 or #48/.076 bit would most like be appropriate.

I've used the Lee Universal decapper die on PPU and S & B and several others and have not had any issues.

Yeah, been there, done that. Lee will replace but they may ask for the broken part to be returned. John Williams usually has a few in stock. If you need one sooner I can spot you one.

BTW, ream the primer pockets out a bit on the S&B brass before reloading.

Yeah that sucks.

Happened to me as well so now I don't tighten the pin in as tight. I would rather have it slide up than break.

I am sorry to hear that and I used to have the same problems before but there is a solution to that problem. Even the new brass of mine is uniformed by centerdrill flash hole uniformer, so not only all the holes are min .080" dia but also they are deburred. Also all my sizing dies have replaced depriming pins of .078" dia made out of said dia drill ends ( instead of .060" weaklings) permanently soldered or "glued" with red Locktite. Now for more than 15 years I newer experienced any stuck or brocken pins, ever.
 
Wow, I am suprised you managed to break them. I had my press jam up the other day to find that I had a 22 LR case stuck inside a 357 case; I found it when the decapping pin drove right through it. I had to turn the decapping assembly upside down and reaf on it with a pair of pliers to get it off (note to self: do not force s**t anymore).
