Broken Colt 1911 9mm Slide rails

I just noticed I crack the slide rail and it broke off during the last cleaning!
This sux as I just bought this pistol from another CGN'er.

So much for Colt being indestructable!

Has this happened to any of you folks before? It WAS a Mark 4 Series 80 gov. model in 9mm.

There goes a quick several hundred dollar($750+) purchase

The pre 1991 series 9mm's were kind of pushed out the door. I never heard of one puking up a slide rail though.

My only suggestion is that since you can't weld the rail back on and run the slide on it, perhaps you can take the slide out of the equation.

See if Gunnar can weld it back on well enough to serve as the lower for a Mech-Tech.

^ better give me you FN BFP then! I bought a G22 today from Smoking Gun FX to make myself feel better....i am still bummed as I have the exact same 1911 in .45 and they made a sweet couple.
